02 — FROM RFQ TO SPOOL

How a quote becomes a spool.

Every ProEdge Wire order passes through the same five-stage flow. Metallurgists review your RFQ before quote, not after — so the number you receive is the number you can plan production against.

    RFQ intake & engineering review

    Your RFQ lands with the applications engineering group (9 people, 41 years combined wire experience). An engineer and a metallurgist confirm alloy, temper, tolerance, and finish against the spec — and flag anything that won't draw, anneal, or plate cleanly.

    Quote with documentation plan

    You receive a line-item quote priced against your tolerance band and alloy. Every quote ships with the documentation plan pre-mapped — PPAP, IMDS, C of C, REACH/RoHS statements — so there's no renegotiation at PO.

    Draw, anneal, plate, insulate

    Production runs on redundant draw, anneal, and plating lines across the Cleveland and Twinsburg facilities. In-process laser micrometry at every die stand; SPC charts retained per lot for seven years.

    Final inspection & documentation

    Every spool leaves with a Certificate of Conformance, dimensional report, and (where required) full PPAP/IMDS packets. Exotic alloy runs receive an additional metallurgical cross-check before sign-off.

Published tolerance bands across the entire diameter range — not just on hero sizes.

ProEdge holds four working bands from 0.003″ to 0.500″. Each band carries a published standard tolerance; tighter tolerances are routinely achieved on qualified repeat orders — confirmed in your quote, not promised in marketing copy.

05 — PLATING & INSULATION

Secondary processing as a configurable menu — every option is in-house.

No sub-contracted plating houses. No “we'll send it out for enameling and re-receive it in three weeks.” Tin, silver, nickel, gold, and the full insulation stack all run on the ProEdge production floor under one quality system.

PLATING

Tin, silver, nickel & gold

Electroplated and hot-dip tin for solderability; silver for high-frequency conductivity; nickel for oxidation resistance at temperature; gold for biomedical and aerospace termination. Thicknesses from 10 µin to 200 µin, controlled per ASTM B545 / B700.

INSULATION

Enamel & polymer film

Builds from single-film through quadruple-film, NEMA MW 35-C / MW 73-C compliant. Polyesterimide, polyester (THEIC-modified), polyamide-imide overcoat, and polyurethane for bondable / solderable applications without mechanical stripping.

PTFE, Kapton & served fiberglass

06 — LOW MOQ PROGRAM

Prototyping and R&D runs are a designed capability — not an exception.

Specialty wire houses are usually built for the 5,000 lb run and treat the 50 lb prototype as a nuisance. ProEdge runs the opposite model. The Low MOQ program is priced and scheduled separately so a small batch doesn't queue behind a Tier 1 automotive blanket order.
